2020 NYC Protest Settlement

A class action lawsuit entitled Sow, et al. v. City of New York, et al. Civil Action No. 21-cv-00533 is pending in the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York. This lawsuit is about police action that took place during the Summer of 2020 on various Settlement Dates and Locations.
On July 27, 2023, the Judge overseeing the case preliminarily approved a settlement proposed by the parties and conditionally certified a class for settlement purposes, consisting of all persons who were arrested, or arrested and subjected to force by police officers at various locations during the “George Floyd protest.” A detailed description of the claims and allegations in the case and settlement terms are contained in the Amended Stipulation of Settlement and Order, available here, and in the Class Notice, available here.
Claim Forms and the Class Notice were mailed to Settlement Class Members on September 11, 2023.
If you are a member of the class of people certified by the Court for settlement purposes and want to participate in the settlement and receive a settlement payment, you must submit a Claim Form no later than December 22, 2023.
You can submit a Claim Form in either of two ways:
• You can complete and submit a Claim Form online by using your Claimant ID number, which will be on the Claim Form and Class Notice that was mailed to you. Click here and type in your Claimant ID number. You must submit your Claim Form no later than December 22, 2023 to receive a settlement payment.
• Or, you can complete the paper copy of the Claim Form that was mailed to you. The Claim Form should be mailed and postmarked no later than December 22, 2023, to the address at the top of the form.
If you did not receive a Claim Form in the mail and believe you are eligible to participate in this settlement, click here (or the “Did Not Receive a Claim Form” link above) and follow the steps described.
A Fairness Hearing will be held on February 22, 2024 at the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York, 500 Pearl Street, Courtroom 24A, New York, NY 10007.
Una demanda colectiva titulada Sow, et al. v. City of New York, et al. Civil Action No. 21-cv-00533 se encuentra pendiente en el Tribunal de Distrito de los Estados Unidos para el Distrito Sur de Nueva York. Esta demanda se refiere a una acción policial que se desarrolló en el verano de 2020 en varias fechas y ubicaciones del acuerdo.

Los Formularios de reclamo y el Aviso de demanda colectiva se enviaron por correo a los Miembros del grupo del acuerdo el 11 de septiembre de 2023.
Si usted es miembro de un grupo de personas certificado por el tribunal a los fines del acuerdo y desea participar en el acuerdo y recibir un pago del acuerdo, debe enviar un Formulario de reclamo a más tardar el 22 de diciembre de 2023.

Puede llenar y enviar un Formulario de reclamo en línea utilizando su número de identificación del reclamante, el cual se encuentra en el Aviso del grupo y Formulario de reclamo que se le envió por correo.
